30th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival
This weekend 30,000 people are expected to gather in beautiful Ocean Isle Beach, for the 30th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival. The event will be held at 2nd and 3rd Street, October 16-17, 2010 from 9 to 6 on Saturday and from 9 to 5 on Sunday. This event is to celebrate the oysters that are abundantly found in the coastal waters of Brunswick County! The weather is expected to cooperate. Hosted by the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce, the festival will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, festival food, a road race on Saturday, kid's area, and the North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championships. Some of the entertainment on Saturday will be the Craig Wollard Band, Coastline Band, Legends of Beach Band and The Painted Man. On Sunday, starting at about 10 am will be Allie McDowell and then at noon the Band of Oz. At noon on Sunday, the Oyster Stew Cook-Off will be held. Limited taste tickets will be available starting at 10am on Sunday. Some of the local restaurants participating will be The Boundary House, Cinellis, Roberto’s, Bourbon Street, Ocean Ridge Plantation and The Isles Restaurant.
